Smart Tax Delivery offers your tax clients a simple, effective, and guided way to review and sign their tax returns online or via mobile. It ensures IRS compliance while eliminating non-billable time spent coaching clients through signing, paying balances due, and reminding them of estimated payments.
Please ensure Forms 8879 are set to preprint the date for signature fields.
As you import tax returns into Liscio, be sure to carefully read the printing instructions to ensure successful processing:
Printing Tax Returns
Step 1: Drag & Drop
Upload a PDF of the completed tax return, as output from supported tax software*, by accessing Requests ➜ +Request ➜ Import, specifying an “Owner” for the resulting Request, if desired.
Step 2: Review & Send
Assuming the PDF contained a valid Form 1040 and Form 8879 (both are required at this time to use Tax Return Delivery), Liscio will create a resulting Request on the Drafts - Ready to Send tab of the Requests Page, which (at this time) only the Owner will be able to view.
Senders will be able to review the tax return, both as the Source Document and the individual sections the client will receive. KBA can be enabled or disabled at this point, and the second signer can be selected to sign on same device during this step, if desired. Once the signers and due date have been selected and the review completed, click Send to deliver the Request to the client(s).
Step 3: Monitor for Completion
While awaiting action from the client, Firm users can monitor outstanding returns by checking the Progress Bar in the Open tab on the Requests Page. The Progress Bar shows how many items within the Request the client has completed (e.g., if a client approves both Federal and State returns but hasn't signed the forms, the Progress Bar would show 66% completion). More detailed tracking and reporting features can be expected in the future.
Once the client completes the Tax Return Delivery Request, the signed Form 8879 and any required state signature forms will appear in the Liscio Files Page (Liscio Vault) and the client's Files tab under their Account and Contact. This occurs only after the client fully completes the Request by clicking Submit.
After receiving the signed Form 8879 and taking any necessary actions (e.g., sending the associated tax return(s)), Liscio recommends archiving the Request. You can do this from the ellipses (3-dots) menu on the Request Page or while viewing it in the Pending Review tab.
