Liscio FileConnect FAQs

Common questions about printing or saving files into Liscio with FileConnect.

Written by Brandon Mitchell

Getting Started

Do I need to use OneDrive or SharePoint to store my documents?

No. FileConnect only uses one OneDrive folder, Upload_to_Liscio, to move files into Liscio. You can keep storing your firm’s documents wherever you do today while only using this OneDrive folder to move documents.

Does OneDrive cost extra?

Usually not. OneDrive is included with most Microsoft 365 business plans. If your firm uses Word, Excel, or Outlook through Microsoft 365, you most likely already have it.

Tip: To check, sign in to OneDrive with your work Microsoft account. If you can open My Files, you’re eligible to use FileConnect.

Does every team member need to set up FileConnect individually?

Yes. Each firm user connects their own Microsoft account from their Profile Settings. This gives every user their own Upload_to_Liscio folder, so Liscio knows who sent each file.

Does FileConnect work on a Mac?

Yes. The Upload_to_Liscio folder syncs to your computer through OneDrive on both Windows and macOS.

Software Compatibility

Does FileConnect work with my tax software?

Yes, as long as your software can print or save a PDF. This includes software such as UltraTax CS, Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries, CCH Axcess, etc.. We don't integrate directly into the tax software, rather, you print the file into the Upload_to_Liscio folder and FileConnect moves it into Liscio.

Does FileConnect work with QuickBooks or other bookkeeping software?

Yes. Any program that can print or save a PDF can send files to Liscio through FileConnect.

Can I use Google Drive, SmartVault, or Box instead of OneDrive?

No. FileConnect only works through OneDrive. You can still use Google Drive, SmartVault, or Box for storage, and connect them to Liscio through their own integrations.

Using FileConnect

How do I send a file to Liscio?

  1. In your software, print or save the file as a PDF.

  2. Choose the Upload_to_Liscio folder as the save location.

  3. Select Save.

The file will arrive in Liscio labeled with your name.

What can I do with the file once it’s in Liscio?

You can route it to a Smart Tax Organizer, Smart Tax Delivery or Share it to a Contact/Account.

What happens to the file in OneDrive after it moves to Liscio?

It’s removed from the Upload_to_Liscio folder once it reaches Liscio, so the folder never fills up. Your original file stays in the software you sent it from.

Can I send more than one file at a time?

Yes. Save as many files to the Upload_to_Liscio folder as you need. Each one moves to Liscio on its own.

Note: You can’t move a whole folder into Liscio. Save the individual files instead.

Will Liscio know which client a file belongs to?

Liscio can read client ID on files such as tax returns to recommend which client a file belongs to. For files we're unsure of, we'll let you choose which client each file belongs to.

Security

Is OneDrive secure?

Yes. Microsoft encrypts files in OneDrive both while they’re being transferred and while they’re stored. With FileConnect, files only stay in OneDrive briefly before moving into Liscio, which is SOC 2 certified.

We still recommend using Multi-Factor Authentication in OneDrive. Here's more information about OneDrive's security, how they protect your data, and how you can keep your OneDrive secure: How OneDrive safeguards your data in the cloud

Troubleshooting

My file didn’t show up in Liscio. What should I check?

  1. Make sure OneDrive is running on your computer and shows as up to date.

  2. Confirm the file was saved to the Upload_to_Liscio folder, not to another folder.

  3. Check that your Microsoft connection is still active under Profile Settings > Third-party Apps.
