Best Practices for Using SMS
Liscio Messaging is still the gold standard – It’s encrypted, secure, and keeps sensitive data private. Use it whenever possible.
Use SMS for reach and convenience – Ideal for nudging clients who aren’t checking Liscio or email.
Avoid using personal numbers – Assign clients to your provisioned number to maintain boundaries and reduce late-night messages to your personal phone.
Be cautious with sensitive info – SMS is not encrypted. Avoid using it for restricted client data, especially if the contact has both restricted and unrestricted accounts.
Set expectations with clients – Let them know to use Liscio Messaging for private or sensitive topics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use SMS for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Yes, you can provide your Liscio SMS number for MFA purposes. However, some banks or platforms may not accept business lines. While Liscio allows it, acceptance depends on the third-party institution.
What’s the “Text Notification” checkbox under a Contact?
This shows whether a contact has opted in to receive Liscio system-generated texts from the platform (e.g., alerts, reminders), not from your firm’s SMS number.
Is SMS included in my subscription?
SMS lines incur an additional monthly fee:
$25/month/line for Core users
$15/month/line for Pro users
Fees cover line provisioning, registration, and carrier-per-message charges.
Is SMS available via the mobile app?
Yes. Firm users can send texts through both the FirmDash mobile app and the web browser version.
Do clients see their SMS conversations in Liscio?
No. Clients receive texts on their phone’s native messaging app. Only firm users will see the full SMS history in Liscio.
Can I use my own number for SMS?
All users are assigned a new number with your firm's preferred local area code.
What if no local numbers are available?
Phone number availability is limited by area code and provider inventory. If your preferred area code isn't available:
We may offer a nearby area code.
Or issue a refund if no suitable option exists.
