File Intelligence works in the background to help keep files organized and easy to find, without extra effort from you or your clients. It’s designed to cut down the time you spend managing documents. You and your team can find what you need faster, reduce repetitive tasks, and be confident files are organized correctly as soon as they arrive.
Liscio’s Secure, Private AI, built exclusively for accountants, ensures your client data remains completely private and secure.
What File Intelligence Does Today
File Intelligence currently supports 67 document types and 120 subtypes with 95% classification accuracy — and growing. See all supported types here.
How It Works
Automatic Renaming
When an accounting-related document is uploaded, Liscio extracts key details (document type, date, issuer, contact, and account) and renames it using your firm’s naming convention.
The original filename is always preserved and still searchable. File Intelligence adds context — it doesn't remove anything.
How renaming works depends on who uploaded the file and the file type:
Client-uploaded files are renamed automatically.
Firm-uploaded files receive a suggested name. You choose to keep the original or apply the suggestion.
If a name cannot be confidently suggested for an accounting document, you'll be prompted to either retry or rename the file manually.
Non-accounting documents (for example, a picture of a person) are not automatically renamed. Instead, you’ll be given the option to rename the file manually if needed.
Only PDF file types are supported.
Why the Detail Matters
File Intelligence doesn't just recognize that something is a "tax document." It knows the difference between a 1099-DIV and a 1099-INT, distinguishes a Robinhood crypto statement from a Coinbase one, and understands which year to pull from forms that show multiple years — tax year, calendar year, and IRS-revised year. It also knows that property tax statements follow different year conventions depending on the state.
That level of specificity is what makes everything downstream — the naming, the routing, the filing — actually correct. It also means searching for files is easier. Instead of clicking through folders, just type what you need in plain language (for example: “W-2 for Smith 2024”). Liscio will surface the right file right away.
